Current Initiatives
Street Light Installation Project
After years of advocacy, we've successfully secured approval for 30 new LED street lights throughout our neighborhoods. This initiative will significantly improve safety for residents walking at night and deter criminal activity. Installation begins Spring 2026.
Impact: Improved safety for 4,000+ residents
Road & Drainage Improvements
Working with Houston Public Works to address flooding issues and poor road conditions. Major improvements planned for Tidwell Road and surrounding streets, including new drainage systems and road resurfacing.
Timeline: Spring-Summer 2026
Community Garden Expansion
Expanding our successful Settegast community garden to provide more residents with access to fresh produce and green space. Partnering with local organizations for education and resources.
Impact: Fresh food access for 100+ families
Habitat for Humanity Partnership
Continuing our partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes and revitalize neighborhoods. Five new homes currently under construction with more planned.
Goal: 20 new affordable homes by 2027
Youth Recreation Center Proposal
Advocating for a dedicated youth recreation center to provide after-school programs, sports facilities, and safe spaces for our young residents. Currently in planning and fundraising phase.
Status: Seeking city support and funding
Neighborhood Clean-Up Program
Quarterly community-wide clean-up events to beautify our neighborhoods, remove illegal dumping, and foster community pride. Next event: February 22, 2026.
Participation: 50+ volunteers per event
